When couples search for the cost of IUI treatment in Pune, they often find very different numbers from different fertility clinics. One clinic may quote a single package price, while another gives a much lower starting figure and adds medicines, scans or sperm preparation separately.

Why the difference?

Because IUI is not one procedure. It is a sequence of steps from consultation and follicular monitoring to ovulation induction, sperm preparation, the insemination procedure and pregnancy testing. The exact combination depends on your fertility diagnosis and treatment protocol.

In this guide, I want to give you a clear line-item understanding of the cost of IUI treatment in Pune in 2026, including what you may need once, what is paid every cycle, and what can change your final bill. Get a personalised IUI cost estimate based on your reports, age and treatment plan.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a relatively simple fertility treatment in which specially prepared sperm are placed directly inside the uterus around the time of ovulation. It may be performed in a natural cycle or alongside medicines that stimulate ovulation.

When IUI Is a Good First Step

IUI may be considered for:

  1. Mild male-factor infertility
  1. Unexplained infertility
  1. Ovulation problems
  1. Certain cervical factors
  1. Couples using donor sperm

For unexplained infertility, oral-medication stimulation combined with IUI is commonly used as an initial treatment approach before moving to IVF in appropriate patients.

When IUI May Not Be the Right Choice

IUI is less suitable when there are:

  1. Blocked fallopian tubes
  1. Severe male-factor infertility
  1. Very low ovarian reserve, particularly when age is also a concern
  1. Other factors where IVF is likely to provide a better chance in less time

This is why I don’t recommend choosing treatment based on IUI cost in Pune alone. The least expensive treatment is not necessarily the most cost-effective treatment if it is unlikely to work for you.

IUI Cost in Pune: Complete Per-Cycle Breakdown

There is no single IUI price that applies to every patient. At Xenith Advanced Fertility Centre, the final estimate depends on which investigations and treatment components your particular cycle requires. The clinic itself advises patients to obtain a personalised estimate rather than publishing a fixed IUI tariff.

Cost component What it covers Xenith price Always needed / Sometimes
Consultation Fertility assessment and treatment planning Confirm at consultation Usually needed
Baseline tests AMH, TSH, prolactin, semen analysis as indicated Based on tests advised Sometimes
Tubal check (HSG) Checks whether the fallopian tubes are open Based on investigation Usually once, if indicated
Ovulation induction tablets Medicines such as letrozole Protocol-dependent Sometimes
Injectable stimulation Gonadotropin injections Protocol-dependent Sometimes
Follicular monitoring scans Ultrasound monitoring of follicle growth Depends on number of scans Usually during stimulated cycles
Trigger injection Helps time ovulation Protocol-dependent Often needed
Sperm wash/preparation Laboratory preparation of sperm for IUI Included/quoted according to treatment plan Usually
IUI procedure Placement of prepared sperm into uterus Confirm current tariff Per IUI cycle
Luteal support Usually progesterone after ovulation/IUI Medicine-dependent Sometimes
Pregnancy blood test Beta-hCG after the procedure Based on laboratory charge If pregnancy testing is required

Xenith lists follicular monitoring and semen analysis among its fertility diagnostic services and provides IUI as part of its fertility treatment pathway.

One-Time Costs vs Per-Cycle Costs

This distinction can make a substantial difference when you are budgeting. Tests such as AMH, TSH, prolactin, semen analysis and HSG are generally not repeated before every IUI cycle unless your doctor has a reason to repeat them. In contrast, medicines, follicular monitoring, trigger medication, sperm preparation, IUI and post-IUI support are generally cycle-specific.

So, if you are comparing the IUI cost per cycle in Pune, first ask whether the quoted figure includes only the insemination or the complete treatment pathway.

Natural Cycle vs Tablet vs Injection IUI: How the Cost Changes

Cycle type Medicines Number of scans Relative cost Best suited for
Natural IUI None or minimal Usually fewer Lowest Selected ovulatory women
Tablet IUI Usually letrozole or another oral medicine Several monitoring scans Moderate Many ovulation/unexplained infertility cases
Injection IUI Gonadotropins Closer monitoring may be required Higher Selected patients needing stronger stimulation

I don’t consider injections automatically “better” simply because they are more expensive. In fact, when oral stimulation such as letrozole IUI is appropriate, I may prefer it because it can provide a simpler and more controlled treatment pathway for the right patient.

Gonadotropin stimulation can increase pregnancy rates in some settings, but it also increases the risk of multiple pregnancy and requires careful monitoring. Evidence-based guidance supports individualized ovarian stimulation rather than simply escalating medication.

6 Factors That Change Your Final IUI Bill

1. Female Age and Ovarian Reserve

Age, AMH and AFC help us understand ovarian response and whether IUI is a sensible option. A younger woman with reassuring ovarian reserve may need a relatively simple protocol, while another patient may need a different approach or may be better served by moving directly to IVF.

2. Type of Stimulation Protocol

A natural cycle, letrozole IUI, and injectable stimulation do not have the same medicine costs.

3. Number of Monitoring Scans

Some cycles develop follicles predictably and require fewer scans. Others need closer monitoring before the trigger is given.

4. Sperm Quality and Preparation

The sperm wash or preparation process depends on the semen sample and the laboratory approach. If the male partner has significantly abnormal semen parameters, IUI may not be the most appropriate treatment.

5. Donor Sperm

For couples using donor sperm, the donor sperm IUI cost includes the cost associated with obtaining and preparing donor sperm in addition to the clinical IUI treatment.

6. Number of Cycles Needed

The cost of one IUI cycle is only one part of the financial calculation. If pregnancy doesn’t occur in the first attempt, you may need another cycle. This is why I encourage couples to think about the expected cost of a treatment strategy, not just the price of one procedure.

How Many IUI Cycles Should You Budget For?

IUI success is measured per cycle, and one unsuccessful cycle does not mean IUI cannot work. For appropriately selected couples with unexplained infertility, evidence-based treatment commonly involves a limited course of ovarian stimulation with oral medication and IUI before moving to IVF if pregnancy has not occurred. In many cases, we discuss around 3 cycles, sometimes up to 3-4 depending on age and the clinical situation.

However, I don’t believe every patient should automatically complete a fixed number of IUIs. If the female partner is older, ovarian reserve is reduced, or there are significant male or female fertility factors, moving to IVF sooner may make more sense.

IUI vs IVF Cost: Which Makes Financial Sense?

 IUI IVF
Cost per attempt Lower Higher
Treatment complexity Lower Higher
Eggs retrieved None Yes
Fertilisation Occurs inside the body Occurs in laboratory
Chance per attempt Generally lower Generally higher
Best suited for Selected mild/unexplained cases Wider range of infertility causes

So, IUI vs IVF cost is not simply a question of choosing the cheaper procedure.

If three or four IUI attempts are unlikely to work because of age, blocked tubes or severe male-factor infertility, repeated lower-cost cycles can ultimately cost more, financially, emotionally and in terms of time, than moving to IVF at the appropriate stage.

Hidden Costs to Ask About Before You Start

Before beginning treatment, I recommend asking your clinic:

  1. Are follicular monitoring scans included?
  1. Is the trigger injection included?
  1. Are medicines included in the quoted IUI price?
  1. Is sperm washing/preparation included?
  1. What happens financially if the cycle has to be cancelled?
  1. Are additional monitoring scans charged separately?
  1. What happens if stimulation takes longer than expected?

These questions are not about being overly cautious. They simply help you understand the complete cost of IUI treatment in Pune before the cycle begins.

Is IUI Covered by Insurance or EMI in India?

Most health insurance policies in India do not automatically cover infertility treatment, although coverage varies between policies and employers. Some policies may have specific fertility-related benefits or exclusions. So don’t assume that IUI is covered, or that it isn’t.

Check your policy wording carefully and ask your insurer specifically about infertility treatment, IUI, medicines, diagnostic tests and related procedures. If you’re considering EMI or a clinic financing option, ask for the complete terms before committing.

Why Couples Choose Xenith Advanced Fertility Centre for IUI in Pune

At Xenith, I believe fertility treatment should be based on the right treatment for the right patient, rather than automatically moving every couple toward IVF.

Xenith Advanced Fertility Centre has centres in Wakad and Koregaon Park, with fertility, embryology and andrology services available within the centre’s treatment ecosystem. Our facilities include an in-house laboratory setup and fertility diagnostics such as semen analysis and follicular monitoring.

The clinic’s public website currently shows 421 Google reviews, and the team includes fertility specialists and an FNB-trained andrologist. There is also an important regulatory point for patients to know: India’s Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021 requires ART clinics undertaking ART procedures to be registered.

For me, transparency is not only about giving you a number. It is about explaining what that number includes, what may change it, and whether IUI is actually the right treatment for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of one IUI cycle in Pune?

The cost of IUI treatment in Pune varies according to the stimulation protocol, medicines, monitoring and laboratory services required.

Why is IUI with injections more expensive than IUI with tablets?

Gonadotropin injections add medication costs and may require closer ultrasound monitoring. They are not automatically more effective for every patient.

Does IUI cost include medicines and scans?

Not necessarily. This is one of the most important questions to ask before starting. At Xenith, the exact components depend on your prescribed protocol, so ask for a personalised estimate.

How many IUI cycles are recommended before IVF?

A commonly used approach for suitable patients is around 3 cycles of stimulated IUI before considering IVF, although age, ovarian reserve and infertility factors can change this decision.

Is donor sperm IUI more expensive?

Yes, donor sperm adds a separate cost to the clinical IUI treatment. The exact amount depends on the donor-sperm source and associated laboratory/handling charges.

Is IUI covered under health insurance in India?

Most health policies exclude infertility treatment, but coverage varies. Always check your individual policy wording.

What is the IUI success rate per cycle?

There is no single IUI success rate per cycle that applies to every couple. Age, diagnosis, ovarian response, sperm quality and the treatment protocol all influence the chance. For example, ASRM’s review of unexplained infertility found that outcomes vary substantially by treatment strategy and patient population.

Final Thoughts

When you search for the cost of IUI treatment in Pune, you may find several different numbers and all of them may appear convincing.

The reason is simple: IUI is a treatment pathway, not just a procedure.

Your final cost depends on whether you need baseline investigations, HSG, tablets or injections, how many monitoring scans are required, sperm preparation, luteal support and how many cycles you ultimately need. My advice is to compare complete treatment plans rather than headline prices.

At Xenith, our aim is to first determine whether IUI is appropriate for you and then give you a treatment plan based on your individual fertility needs.
